White Lion Records has always been a cornerstone of Puerto Rican music. Founded by Elías De León, the label helped launch some of reggaetón’s earliest and most iconic voices including Daddy Yankee, Tego Calderón, Calle 13, Zion & Lennox, and more. These artists defined a genre and shaped the soundtrack of Puerto Rico, the diaspora, and global Latin music culture.
Now White Lion is turning its attention to salsa with the launch of Salsa White Lion, a new imprint dedicated to promoting Puerto Rican salsa talent worldwide. The first single, “Uju Ajá” by El Propio, blends traditional salsa energy with modern rhythms. It shows how salsa can evolve while staying deeply rooted in Puerto Rican culture and community. This initiative is about more than music; it is about uplifting voices, honoring history, and keeping the rhythm of Puerto Rican culture alive.
White Lion’s journey shows that Puerto Rican music is not stuck in the past. From reggaetón to salsa, it keeps moving, evolving, and influencing the world. With Salsa White Lion, the next generation of artists has a chance to step into the spotlight while honoring the rhythms that built Puerto Rican culture and music history.
